I’ve been feeling sh*tty about myself in the past few weeks and I’ve written about it a couple of times on my blog. I’m struggling to get up and do my online selling stuff. I know that this is just a phase just like everything else that we experience in life. However, I do have some things that I want to achieve and I know that I’m kinda slowing myself down. So day by day, I’m exerting so much effort in turning negative energy into positive energy so I can continue on with my projects.
I’m here to share with you guys the things that I do to help me get back on track.

Wake Up with a Grateful Heart
I have mentioned this before but to be honest, I often forget to do this myself. But recently, I have been constantly reminding myself, every time I wake up, of the things that I’m grateful for.
I find this very helpful in improving my mindset every morning.
It’s not a magic pill or something that will easily change your mood though. But day by day, I’m feeling more optimistic in life every time I start my day with gratitude.
To be honest, the things that I worry much about in life are in reality, non-existent. My brain makes me worry so much about the past and the future and I forget how beautiful the present moment is.
Allow Oneself to Feel Emotions
I’m also trying not to hide from my emotions anymore and I am slowly allowing myself to just let it flow. In the past, I have always been putting up a strong and happy face despite the negative emotions that I was feeling inside.
And because of that, I think that it piled up so much that it’s starting to tear me down from the inside.
It’s like a dam full of water that is waiting to burst and explode.
Now, I’m trying to let the emotion flow freely so it can get out of my system real fast.
I’m a human being after all, and our emotions are one of the things that make us human.
Talk About It
The pandemic is making it very hard for all of us to just meet and chat. In the past, I often meet my friends at cafes just to hang out and chat. In the process, we talk about our successes, failures, struggles, etc.
Talking about what we’re going through somehow helps in alleviating the heavy emotions we carry on our shoulders.
We, Filipinos are known to be very social and we always meet up to just talk and share our lives with our family and friends.
This blog has been an outlet for me to talk about not just my financial journey but also how I deal with some of my struggles in life and in doing so, I feel that it’s helping me cope up with whatever I’m struggling with.

Indulge Oneself with Fun Activities
One of the reasons why I feel so sh*tty recently is that I spent a lot of time doing things that could help me financially. In the process, sometimes I forget to enjoy the moment and just live a stress-free life.
Sometimes I forget that the reason why I chose to become a solopreneur is to break the cycle of just purely working all day and all night.
Recently, I have been indulging myself to enjoy some simple things in life that I really love such as watching movies, playing with my dogs, cooking experimental dishes in the kitchen, and going out for a walk (social distancing observed of course).
Laugh, Laugh and Laugh as Hard as You Can
They say that laughter is the best medicine. And personally, I do believe that. But if you’re feeling down, you might think that it’s very impossible to make yourself laugh, right?
That’s what I thought as well.
But, recently, since I’ve been watching a lot of movies and random Youtube videos, I find myself laughing a lot.
Laughing doesn’t always mean that everything is sugar and spice and everything nice. Laughing is an outcome of experiencing something funny or perhaps something that triggered the happy vibe inside ourselves.
So lately, I’ve been watching a lot of feel-good movies, comedy films, comedy Youtube shows, etc.
This is to trigger the happy vibe in me. I also avoid watching grim and scary stuff or depressing stuff in the morning or before I sleep.
Lend a Helping Hand
Lending a helping hand to a friend, family, and to anyone in need is also helping me turn my negative energy into positive energy.
I have observed that by helping other people, my attention shifted from the issues that I’m dealing with myself to the things that I can do for the person in need.
Although it doesn’t remove whatever struggles I’m dealing with, it became some sort of a holiday break from always thinking about myself and my personal struggles.
I have never thought about this that much until I have observed it myself.
I once saw a religious poster that when you help someone, you’re actually helping yourself as well. It must be true to a certain extent then.

Be Accountable and Responsible for Oneself
Another thing that is helping me cope up with my struggles is being accountable and responsible for myself.
I’m aware that I’m accountable and responsible for my actions and thoughts thus, I’m also aware that if I want to minimize feeling sh*tty, then I should steer away from external triggers that can make me feel sh*tty.
Being fully accountable and responsible to oneself also removes us from playing the ‘Blame Game’ and ‘Victim Mentality’.
Instead of blaming myself or others for whatever I’m struggling with, my attention goes to finding the solution to a situation that I don’t like to be in.
Being accountable and responsible also empowers me in one way or another. In my head I’m thinking, I can find way/s to make this situation better.
Surround Yourself with Positive People
I have mentioned this multiple times in my past blog posts and I would probably mention this over and over again because I truly believe in the power of influence (direct or indirect).
I also believe that one of the greatest hacks in improving our lives is a very simple thing – surround ourselves with positive and like-minded people.
If we are surrounded by highly motivated individuals then we will be greatly influenced by them, sometimes, without us even noticing it.
If being accountable, being responsible, being brave to take calculated risks, being frugal, being kind to others, being a productive member of society, etc are part of our day-to-day conversation and day-to-day living then it will become part of our habits.
It will be ingrained in our system, and this is just because we simply chose to be surrounded by positive people.
Take Action
None of these ideas will matter if we will not take action. Converting negative energy into positive energy requires willpower.
I know that this is easier said than done but it’s the fastest way to help ourselves move forward with our lives.
I am aware that life is short and I don’t want to waste my life wallowing in my sadness. Although sometimes, some life situations get are really trying and difficult but it’s a fact of life that we have to deal with.
Sometimes we just need to play the cards that were dealt and go on with our lives and live it to the best of our ability.
I know it’s sounded so preachy but it is what it is.

This post is actually a note to myself and a reminder that I can always turn things around if I want to.
