Anyone can easily (relatively) make money nowadays compared to decades ago. It’s amazing to live in the modern era, isn’t it? When I was a teenager the only earning possibility is directly related to doing physical or manual labors. Now, you have an option to participate in the digital economy regardless of your age (with the guidance of your parents of course). If you are asking yourself how to make money as a teenager in the modern world then read on.

Again, before we start, I’d like to emphasize that if you are a teenager, please ask for the support, assistance, and especially the guidance of your parents. The internet world can be harsh sometimes to people and it would be best if you have the help of your parents.

My Personal Experience Working as a Teenager

When I was a teen, I used to work in fast food chains which is the common summer job for students in my country. I also used to sell a variety of stuff in my neighborhood such as food, used stuff, etc.

I did this because I came from a poor household and I needed money to pay for some additional expenses at school. Just to be clear, my parents didn’t force me in any way to do this. However, I felt the need to take part-time jobs to help them with some of the household expenses and my school supply expenses even if just for a few months.

My parents were very clear though that I could only work during school breaks and I wasn’t allowed to do any part-time work during school days. They wanted me to focus on my studies and not be distracted by earning money.

Again, I’m sorry if this is the third time that I’ll be mentioning this, please discuss with your parents before you sign up with any kind of job so they could provide you with some support and guidance.

Become a Blogger

Again, I’m a bit bias with blogging because there are so many monetary and non-monetary gains in blogging and you also have full control of your time and you can do this side by side with other activities. I have written various articles about it and feel free to click on the links below to learn more about blogging:

Become a Vlogger/YouTuber

This is actually something that you can do alongside blogging, or you can focus solely on vlogging. YouTubers earn money from advertisements by Google Adsense. However, once your followers become bigger, potential additional sources of income will soon be available to you such as brand partnerships, sponsorships, and affiliate marketing.

A lot of vloggers make videos about their personal lives but I suggest that you go a different route and focus on a niche that can be helpful to a wide variety of audiences. By doing this, you will maximize the earning potential of your vlog.

Become an Influencer

Becoming an influencer is like becoming a multi-media artist with a presence in almost all forms of social media. This can be very time-consuming though and you will be needing a lot of help and support from your parents to pull this off.

Become an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money online. Affiliate marketing is basically referring people to buy from the product links that you endorsed on your online platforms such as blogs, social media accounts, etc. When they buy from your affiliate links, then you will earn a commission with no extra cost to your readers.

Sell Online

Every time I go to the nearest courier to ship my items, I get envious of all the teenagers that I meet at the courier’s office. They’re probably earning more than I do because I often see them with more shipment packages than I have. LOL!

Selling online can also be very easy to start with and you don’t need that much capital especially if you sell low-capital products with a potentially high-profit margin.

I’m an online seller and I’ve written a lot of posts about online selling, here are some links that can help you start your online selling business.

Create Artworks and Sell Online

This is an amazing time for all the creative people out there. You can create your artwork and you can make money from them.

You could either upload them to print on demand websites and earn money from commissions or you can sell your artworks directly via your own website or via your social media accounts.

Create Handmade or Handcrafted Items and Sell Online

If you’re not good at making graphic artworks then try making handcrafted or handmade items instead such as clothes, accessories, etc. One of the most popular websites to sell your handcrafted items to is Etsy.

You could also sell them on your social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram.

Sell Stock Photos Online

I’m a photography enthusiast even when I was younger. However, cameras were very expensive back then. Nowadays, camera prices have gone down because of the decreasing demand and you can buy a decent second-hand camera online.

If you like photography and if you enjoy photography, then consider selling stock photos online. This is a great way to make money from something that you love doing.
