I just recently received my Crypto.com Ruby Steel Visa Card and I’m here to share with you guys how to get one. I’ve been wanting to get one since I started dabbling in crypto and I’m really excited that I finally received my card. I was hoping to get the Icy White or Frosted Rose Gold Visa Card but I don’t have enough $ and CRO to staked for it hahahaha!
Anyway going back to the topic… I’m going to share with you guys How to Get a Crypto.com Visa Card.
My Application Timeline
I actually staked my CRO last March 29, 2021, however, I waited for my credit card billing statement to arrive and it took some time that’s why I was able to submit my documents quite late. I submitted the document via the Crypto.com App last May 19, 2021, and I got the confirmation that it was verified last May 24, 2021.
I got an email that the card was on its way last May 28, 2021, and I received the card on May 31, 2021.
If I had submitted the document at the time of staking, I would have received it way earlier. The package was sent via DHL Express from Singapore to the Philippines.
Applying for the card is free and shipping is also free but you have to stake a certain number of CRO (equivalent to a specific amount) depending on the card that you’d like to get.
What is Crypto.com?
Crypto.com is a crypto app that has a variety of features. Some of its features includes:
- Crypto Exchange
- Send and Receive Payment
- Save and Earn Interest
- Convert Crypto and Spend Using Visa Card
- Loan Product
For now, I only use Crypto.com to stake CRO (Crypto.com’s Token) and to get a Visa Card. I use mainly Binance to buy crypto and I also use Kucoin and Gate.io to buy crypto that is not available in Binance.

How to Get the Crypto.com Visa Card
There are different Crypto.com Visa Cards that you can apply for and one of the most popular is the Ruby Steel Visa Card because the staking requirement is way more affordable compared to the other cards. The cheapest one is actually the Midnight Blue Visa Card which doesn’t have a staking requirement but it’s a plastic card unlike the rest of the cards which are metal. I don’t have a metal card yet that’s why I opted for the Ruby Steel Visa Card.
Applying is very easy and all you have to do is to:
1.Download the Crypto.com App on your phone (Available on both Android and Apple IOS).
2. Sign up for a Crypto.com App account and complete the KYC verification.
3. Purchase CRO tokens and deposit them into your Crypto Wallet in the App. Again, the amount of CRO depends on the card tier you’re applying for. Below is a screenshot of the corresponding amount of CRO you need to stake per card.
Please bear in mind that the staking requirement (amount) is subject to change so be sure to always check the Crypto.com website for the updated requirements before you apply.
Actually, when I first found out about Crypto.com Visa Cards, the staking requirement was higher and way more expensive compared to the requirements now. This is because $CRO has appreciated in value. Luckily, they changed it and pegged the required staking amount to a specific amount in $ instead of a specific number of $CRO tokens.
4. Follow the On-Screen Instructions and Upload Your Proof of Address. The accepted document list are listed on the app.
That’s it. Once you have submitted your document, all you have to do is wait for an email or notification on what to do next.
When I got the notification that the card was on its way, a DHL Tracking Number appeared on the app (on the card page/screen).
How to Activate Your Crypto.com Visa Card
I just activated the card today via the app and it was very easy.
An On-screen instruction will be available on the app and all it asked was the three-digit number at the back of the card also, it asked me to set up a 6-digit pin.
Please note that all EU, UK, and US cards come with a preset 4-digit PIN. This view-only PIN can be found under Card > Settings. Setting a personalized PIN can be done at a VISA ATM.
And that’s it! It’s already active.
I have not tried using it yet since I just activated it today (as of the time of writing).
Why Get a Crypto.com Visa Card
I have decided to get a Crypto.com Visa Card because I wanted to use it as a backup withdrawal option for my crypto. But it’s not the only advantage in getting the card.
Features will vary depending on the card that you will apply for.
In my case, since I got the Ruby Steel Visa Card, I get a (1) reimbursement on Spotify per month and the equivalent amount is USD 12.99. In order to get this, I have to charge and pay the subscription using my Crypto.com Visa Card and in return, I will get a CRO equivalent. I have not tried this yet and will update you once I do.
Ruby Steel Cardholders also get 2% Cashback on purchases (no cap as of the time of writing). Not all purchases are qualified though. You can see the full list of restricted (purchases that won’t get $CRO) on this link.
The best features are of course available to the top-tier card such as the Obsidian Black, Icy White, and Frosted Rose Gold Visa Cards. You can see the full features on this link.
Important Reminders
Here are some things to think about before you apply for a Crypto.com Visa Card:
Staking $CRO
Staking CRO for 180 days is one of the requirements to get the card and to avail the full benefits of your chosen card. When you stake $CRO tokens, it means, you will not be able to use/withdraw your staked $CRO. So, do not apply if you will be needing the money in the next 6 months.
And also, staking $CRO means, your tokens are still subject to the fluctuation of the market price of the token. For example, if you got 1700 $CRO for $400 (USD) (for Ruby Steel), the value of 1700 $CRO might be higher or lower by the time it’s available for unstaking or by the time you wish to withdraw it. Please keep that in mind. Again, let’s not invest what we can’t afford to lose for the sake of our sanity and peace of mind.
Keep Your Card Safe
Treat your Crypto.com as your Credit/Debit Card and keep it safe at all times. The app has a ‘Freeze’ option that you can use in case you lose the card (and also contact them right away to report it). There’s also an Enable/Disable International Usage option on the app as well.
Charges in Using the Card
Crypto.com’s Ruby Steel Card doesn’t charge for a withdrawal as long as it’s within the $400 monthly limit. However, the local bank ATM that you will be using will charge you. Since this card is from Singapore, it’s gonna be like an international withdrawal charge. I have not tried this yet and I will update this post once I do so.
Topping up the card might also incur an additional charge depending on the type of credit or debit card that you will use. Again, since I have not tried this yet, I will update this post, or I will write a separate post about this once I do so.
Always DYOR
Always Do Your Own Research (DYOR) before signing up for anything. In my case, I did assess the risk of getting a Crypto.com and I personally feel that I’m ok with it (fluctuation of $CRO value, etc). And also, bear in mind that the posts I share here are not financial advice (NFA) and should not be taken as such. Please consult a professional financial advisor if you need advice on any kind of investment.

Final Thoughts
I’m excited to use the card and I will keep you posted once I’ve tried some basic functions including:
- Top-up
- Withdrawal
- POS Purchases
- Online Purchases
- Etc
It might take a while though as my funds are tied up as of the time being. But I will definitely share my experience here and I will link the articles on this one.
By the way, in case you’re done your own research already and once you have decided to get one, you may use my referral link here (or you can type my referral code – v8pnb3h68m). It’s not a requirement though for the signup.
However, if you use it, we will both get $25 in $CRO when you signup and stake for a Ruby Steel Card or above.
