Traffic Growth – 106% Growth

One of the main reasons why I make this quarterly post is to share with you guys especially to my fellow bloggers and to new bloggers my struggles and successes in blogging. And I believe that one of the key metrics that we all look at when it comes to blogging is traffic.

I have been lucky that despite my inconsistency in producing content, traffic continues to grow.

My traffic from January to March 2021 (Q1 2021) is up by 106% compared to Q4 2020.

Blog Input

I wrote a lot of articles in the past few months especially last January and February but I stalled again in March 2021 because I got busy with my online selling gig again. And also, I’m spending so much time now dabbling in trading crypto on Binance. I wrote a separate post about Binance and you can read it here. (By the way, please be aware that crypto trading is considered high-risk due to its volatility so please DYOR and do your own diligence. This is also not a piece of financial advice so seek advice from a professional financial advisor or DYOR in any investment that you’ll make).

Anyway, going back to the topic, here are the number of articles that I was able to produce in Q1 2021 in comparison to Q4 2020.

Q4 2020 Number of New Articles

  • October: 6
  • November: 4
  • December: 8

Q1 2021 Number of New Articles

  • January: 25
  • February: 21
  • March: 4

Some Changes with My Blogging Process

I have been struggling to keep up with my blog, my online selling gig, and my newfound journey in crypto trading. If you have been following this blog, you probably have read already in my past articles that I’m a slow writer. It takes me a few hours to finish an article and another hour to post the latest article on various social media websites.

Another blogging activity that eats up some time is posting updates on social media websites such as Pinterest. To be honest, I didn’t find that much success in generating social media traffic, and almost 100% of my blog traffic comes from the search engine, specifically Google.

Thus, I’ve decided that in order to save some time, I’m gonna skip posting on Pinterest for now since it’s the most time-consuming thing to do for me and just focus on writing articles.

I’ve also changed my blogging schedule. In Jan and Feb of  2021, I experimented with blogging daily and I just did my online selling gig afterward. However, that kind of schedule didn’t work for me.

So, this Q2 2021, I’m going to try working on my blog every other week so I can stay focus on both projects for one whole week.

Of course, some of the online selling activities will spill over on my scheduled blogging week such as responding to customers and shipping orders because I don’t have any control over when prospective customers send messages to my online selling accounts. But I will not posts new items on the weeks that I have dedicated to blogging.

Hopefully, this new schedule will help me produce new content for both projects without overly exhausting myself.

I love both projects (blog and online selling) and I don’t want to loathe them just because I got too tired from the activities relating to both projects.

Final Thoughts and My Key Takeaways from My Recent Struggles in Managing Multiple Projects

Personal Well-being Over Everything Else

Online selling is my main gig and I consider myself just as a part-time blogger. Now, I also consider myself as just a part-time crypto trader or a crypto enthusiast.

Personally, I don’t want to overly exhaust myself from managing all of the things that I’ve decided to involve myself in. I also don’t want to lose sleep from all of those things.

I want to enjoy the process and the entire journey because I believe it is as important as the result.

Keep Improving

The main reasons why I wrote that many articles in January and February were because I wanted to test how much I can write in a month and also, to help myself improve my writing skills.

I’m a person who learns by doing, thus in order for me to improve a certain skill, I need to actually do it.

Adapt to Change

All of the money-making activities that I’m involved in are subject to constant change. And in order to stay in this game, I need to adapt to the changes in these industries. Not to mention, that we are all still in a pandemic right now and local policies that affect my hustles are also changing every now and then.

You’re doing amazing, Thrifty Hustler! Even though you have slowed down your writing, your SEO work and hustle earlier in the year is paying off. I think your strategy to post less on Pinterest is smart. It makes sense to focus on what is working. I’m spending a lot less time on Pinterest lately as well. I also agree that personal well being should be above everything else. Just out of curiosity, does Twitter drive a lot of your traffic? Keep up the great work man. I look forward to next quarter.

      Hi Graham,

Thanks for the comment. Twitter doesn’t drive ‘a lot’ of traffic, however, among all social media websites that I share my blog posts on, Twitter generates traffic better than the others (Facebook, Tumblr and Pinterest).
